Fred Angerstein – Music Director and President


Retired from 44 years of service as the Director of Band at the Kinkaid School, Mr. Angerstein's bands are award-winning ensembles that have toured the world, most notably – a two-week tour of China in the summer of 2004 at the invitation of the Chinese Government.


Mr. Angerstein studied at the Oberlin Conservatory, the Julliard School of Music and at the University of Houston, receiving Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Applied Music. His conducting teachers include Jorge Mester, Dennis Russell Davies, Leonard Bernstein, and A. Clyde Roller.



His past positions include student conductor of orchestras and opera at the Julliard School, assistant conductor of the New York Choral Society, conductor of the Rufino Opera Company of New York, assistant conductor of the Aspen Festival Orchestra and Opera Company, director of the Second Wind Ensemble at the University of Houston, assistant conductor of the Houston Civic Symphony, and clinician/conductor of various All-Region and All-State bands.

Jennifer Siler – Associate Director

Jennifer received her Bachelor's in Music Education from the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, where she was the Assistant Director of the UST Wind Ensemble and her Masters in Education from Sam Houston State University. She began teaching band in 2010. She is currently the Band Director at The Village School in Houston and previously worked at First Baptist Academy and The Kinkaid School. She has studied clarinet with Richard Nunemaker of the Houston Symphony and Tom Phillips of the Shreveport Symphony. She studied conducting with Fred Angerstein. 


Jennifer currently plays and conducts with the Houston Symphonic Band, and has performed on several international tours throughout Europe and Asia. She is the Contest Chair for the Houston Symphonic Band's Concert and Sightreading Contest, the founder of The Jazz Reboot Project, and the former Houston Area Private Schools All-City Honor Band Coordinator. Her passions in music education are technology and globalization, and she is an advocate for music education throughout Houston. 

Everett Hinote – Assistant Director

Everett is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas (UST) in Houston with a Bachelor in Tuba Performance and Masters in Conducting.  Mr. Hinote served in numerous support roles while at UST such as student assistant for the UST Wind Ensemble, Recital Hall Manager, and Student Administrative Assistant. He has been a performing member of the Houston Symphonic Band since 2008 and routinely performs with the Sugar Land Baptist Orchestra and the Bethany Christian Brass Quintet. Prior to his current performance groups, Mr. Hinote was a member of the Gulf Coast Sound Drum and Bugle Corps from 2006 to 2009 and was the Brass Instructor of Bayou City Blues Drum and Bugle Corps from 2014 to 2016. Mr. Hinote studied tuba and conducting under Fred Angerstein throughout his collegiate career.

Mr. Hinote has served as an adjudicator for the Association of Texas Small School Bands since 2006, held clinics at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention, performed in several countries across Europe and in China, and has continued as a guest performer and conductor at the University of St. Thomas – Houston. He has served as a clinician of several schools in the Houston area, private lessons instructor, and holds master classes on UIL All-Region etudes.  His passion for music drives him to deliver the best to the Houston area.
