HSB - New Members

Welcome!

Thank you for joining the Houston Symphonic Band. We hope your experience with us so far has been positive. We stronly believe that the enjoyment of playing music is directly proportional to the quality of the music being played and the quality of the performances given.

Because we feel we should devote as much of your valuable time to playing rather than talking, we do not take any breaks during our rehearsal time. Unfortunately this can make it difficult for a new member to mingle and meet other band members. Likewise many existing members may not have had the opportunity to welcome you. Though we try, we often forget to acknowledge new members during the rehearsals. Please forgive this oversight if we failed to welcome you during your first rehearsal, know that we are glad you have joined us. We know you have a choice of many other fine musical organizations in the area and are happy that you have chosen us.

If you haven't already done so, please be sure we have your phone number, your current street and email addresses, what instruments you play and your occupation. Once we have this information we can include you on our roster and be sure you obtain any notices or updates regarding the activities of the band. If you did not fill out a form given to you during a rehearsal, you may email this information to:

Please take advantage of the resources available on this site. You may wish to check out the Frequently Asked Questions page to answer many of the common questions new members might have. You may also email us with questions, comments, suggestions or criticisms.

For information related to your particular instrument or to obtain music, please talk to your section leader or email them [see Contacts page]. If you have been given an incomplete music folder, you may check the Play List page to determine which pieces you are missing before requesting music.

You should visit the Members section of this site often. It is here where information relevant to band members will be posted. We post announcements, have an online Calendar, information on Concert Dress and much more.

We hope you will enjoy playing with the Houston Symphonic Band and that you will remain with us a long time.
