
First American band to perform with the People's Liberation Army Band, People's Republic of China, Beijing. Shared concert with HSB performing first, PLA band next and then joint performance of a Chinese traditional melody conducted by Robert McElroy followed by "The Stars and Stripes Forever" conducted by the commander of the PLA band.

Program consisted of one new compostion for band from the catalogues of the major publishers supporting music education in Texas.

First American band invited to perform with the Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall, London, England. A concert with the combined forces of four British military bands and the HSB. An audience in excess of 10,000 enjoyed the outdoor performance (an event held each weekend in the summer in London).
